Predictive effect of triglyceride?glucose index on clinical events in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus and acute myocardial infarction: results from an observational cohort study in China

Abstract Background Triglyceride glucose (TyG) index is considered a reliable alternative marker of insulin resistance and an independent predictor cardiovascular (CV) outcomes. However, the prognostic value TyG in patients with type 2 diabetes mellitus (T DM) acute myocardial infarction (AMI) remains unclear. Methods A total 1932 consecutive T DM AMI were enrolled this study. Patients divided into tertiles according to their levels. The incidence major adverse cardiac cerebral events (MACCEs) was recorded. calculated as ln [fasting triglycerides (mg/dL) × fasting plasma (mg/dL)/2]. Results Competing risk regression revealed that positively associated CV death [2.71(1.92 3.83), p < 0.001], non-fatal MI [2.02(1.32 3.11), = rehospitalization [2.42(1.81 3.24), revascularization [2.41(1.63 3.55), 0.001] composite MACCEs [2.32(1.92 2.80), 0.001]. area under ROC curve for predicting occurrence 0.604 [(0.578 0.630), cut-off 9.30. addition baseline model had incremental effect on predictive [net reclassification improvement (NRI): 0.190 (0.094 0.337); integrated discrimination (IDI): 0.027 (0.013 0.041); C-index: 0.685 (0.663 0.707), all Conclusions significantly MACCEs, suggesting may be valid stratification prognosis AMI.
